This was the first video I wrote out of the 3 that have been released, and this one really helped me conceptualize the world and mood of Midnights, like a sultry sleepless 70’s fever dream. mai and ty lee are such an iconic duo bc their aesthetics are delightfully misleading & contrasting. mai may seem all gloomy & morbid but she’s actually so kind & caring & believes in honesty & love above all else. meanwhile ty lee is beautiful & bubbly & hyperfeminine in her presentation, but she’s actually extremely cunning & savvy in a way that is truly terrifying. sure, mai likes knives and hates sunsets, but ty lee can kill you in 12 different ways without breaking a sweat. mai is honestly not scary at all; like yeah she’s cool & aloof I suppose, but she’s really just a misunderstood, funny, sad, & fundamentally nice person who just wants to be seen. ty lee, on the other hand, was the scariest bitch in the whole show. and they’re in love 💗
